The quality of rotomolding mold determines the quality of rotomolding products, so it is important to maintain the mold. However, many workers don’t pay much attention to the maintenance of the mold in the process; they lack of relevant knowledge and thus cause the damage to the mold which is avoidable at the beginning.
Currently, there are two kinds of mold mostly used in manufacturing, the first one is aluminum alloy mold and the other one is steel plate mold.
Aluminum alloy mold is smaller and generally used to produce products with high precision; on the other hand, steel plate mold is suitable for producing products with big seize. Based on their different properties, the maintaining work will be slightly different.
Because of the material of mold, the maintenance work should focus on anti-rust, anti-shock and prevent deformation.
1. Anti-rust. If the surface of the steel mold doesn’t have special protection, when the mold is in an idle state, the inner body must be applied with anti-rust oil, preferably with silicone oil.
2. Steel mold must install the fender bracket to prevent the damage from collision.
3. Clean the flange surface of mold. The flange surface must be clean, and pay attention not to hurt the surface when doing cleaning.
4. Steel mold must be placed in dry and ventilated place, mold need to be reset in order to avoid deformation due to their weight.
5. Do not use water to cool down the steel mold during manufacturing.
